I pick a book for the given theme of the week, and tell you why. Then we look at the covers for my chosen book. You can find the group on Goodreads here, where there is more info.
The theme this week is: World Book Day is in a couple of days! Choose one of your all-time favourite books.
This one is so hard. It is what I imagine a parent goes through when asked who their favourite child is. You just can’t decide.
A couple of weeks ago I did a Book Travelling Thursday and picked Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, which on some days is my favourite book.
On other days, it is Fire by Kristin Cashore. I have loved this book since my mum bought it for my christmas one year. I love her strength, and the fact that she could easily use her powers for selfish reasons but she doesn’t.
THE ORIGINAL COVER:
On the left is the original paperback cover, and on the right is the hardback cover. Although the hardback one is pretty, I think the paperback one is a bit more badass, and shows off the character Fire better.
OTHER UK EDITIONS OF THE COVER:
I think this cover would have been better if they made the hair a more vibrant red that stands out. I just feel like this is kind of a bland version of the original.
LEAST FAVOURITE COVERS:
I just don’t care for any of these covers. They just don’t entice me into reading this amazing book.
My favourite cover has to be the one I own:
I really like the colour scheme they used, and I think Fire just looks awesome on that cliff.
Well that was hard to choose, but it has been fun thinking about Fire again. It has been ages since I have read it, and it is definitely going on the top of my TBR pile.
Next week’s theme is: Everyone needs a companion. Choose your favorite bookish pet.
