I hate endings. I try to avoid them as much as possible. But I have finally finished the Raven Cycle. This is of course a spoiler free review.
The Raven Cycle is a spectacular series, with The Raven King the last book in the quartet. If you haven’t read this series then I would recommend it wholeheartedly. I have a review for the first book, The Raven Boys, here.
I’m not entirely sure how to describe this book but here is a quote from the blurb:
Nothing dead is to be trusted.
Now the endgame has begun.
Nothing living is safe.
I like this book because there is a conclusion. It’s not a final book where I am left with so many question
s about what will happen. I feel satisfied that I know what the main characters are doing. The rest of this book was touch and go.
I felt like was trying to end before it begun, but it took so long for it to happen. Even though new characters were introduced, I did’t eel like there was much of a plot line.
The Luminous were very interesting, triplets who all went by the same name. The chapters told from there persective was slightly confusing,
One quote that stayed with me: “The world didn’t have words to measure hate“. I guess it is because there are many things that are quantifiable, but I have never tried to measure my hatred of something.
Blue is still my favourite character, with Gansey coming in a close second. I still stand by what I wrote in my review of The Raven Boys, an entire book dedicated to Blue’s fashion choices would be amazing.
I am definitely going to re-read this series in the future, it has quite a complicated plot and I’ll probably appreciate it a lot more the second time around.
